Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Nuuk

Upon arrival at Nuuk Airport, you will be greeted by our tour manager, who will assist you with hotel transfers and check-in formalities. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the surrounding areas at your leisure.

Day 2: Nuuk – Half-Day City Tour

After breakfast, embark on a guided half-day tour of Nuuk, Greenland’s charming capital founded in 1728. Highlights of the tour include:

Katuaq Cultural Centre

An experienced local guide will share insights into Nuuk’s geography, history, and the unique lifestyle required to thrive in Arctic conditions. You’ll also visit the main harbour and both the old and new campuses of the University of Greenland, along with panoramic views of the surrounding fjords.

Return to your hotel and enjoy a leisurely afternoon.

Day 3: Nuuk – Boat Tour to Kangeq

After breakfast, set out on a memorable boat tour to the abandoned settlement of Kangeq, once a thriving fishing village until the 1980s. The hour-long journey will take you past breathtaking coastal landscapes, with opportunities to spot seals, whales, and Arctic wildlife along the way.

At Kangeq, explore the haunting remains of abandoned homes while your guide recounts the political decisions of the 1950s and 1960s that led to the depopulation of these villages. Learn about Aron of Kangeq, an Inuit hunter and artist famous for chronicling Greenland’s myths and folklore.

Return to Nuuk and relax at your hotel.

Day 4: Nuuk to Ilulissat

After breakfast, transfer to Nuuk Airport for your flight to Ilulissat, Greenland’s third-largest town with approximately 5,000 residents. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore the charming surroundings or simply unwind.

Day 5: Ilulissat – Eqi Sermia Glacier Excursion

Today begins with a full-day adventure to the magnificent Eqip Sermia Glacier, one of Greenland’s most active calving glaciers:

Depart from Ilulissat Harbour by boat
Witness towering ice walls more than 200 metres above sea level
Option to hike to the glacier’s moraine or admire it from the comfort of the boat

Day 6: Guided Walking Tour of Ilulissat and Evening Iceberg Cruise

Following breakfast, join a two-hour guided walking tour through the historic town of Ilulissat. Explore key sites such as:

The Old Town
Fishing Harbour
Zion’s Church (the Old Church)
Ilulissat Museum

Learn about the founding of the town in 1741 by Danish merchant Jakob Severin and gain deeper insight into Greenlandic culture.

Day 7: Depart Ilulissat

Spend the morning at leisure. Depending on your flight schedule, you may explore a bit more of Ilulissat or relax at the hotel. Later, transfer to Ilulissat Airport for your onward flight or next adventure.
